Edward was born and brought up in Birmingham (and consequently supports Aston Villa).  He gained a music degree from Sussex University and went on to study at the Royal College of Music on the post-graduate advanced performers' course.  He also has an LTCL (Trinity College performer's diploma) and DipRCM (Royal College of Music teacher's diploma).

Edward has appeared as a soloist with the Camerata of London on several occasions, including a performance of Bach's Brandenburg Concerto no.2.  He has also made solo appearances with Sinfonia da Chiesa, Surrey ProMusica, London City Chamber Orchestra, MANA Chamber Orchestra, the Capriol Chamber Choir and the North Downs Consort.  Other orchestras with which Edward has appeared, include the National Festival Orchestra, London Gala Orchestra, Southern Sinfonia and Emerald Ensemble.  He has played in numerous shows, including a tour of the Music Man and a pantomime.   

Edward is a founder member of Mardi Brass. Edward's trumpet playing can be heard on the CDs accompanying two books recently published by Boosey and Hawkes: Christopher Norton's Concert Collection for trumpet  Vuelvo al sur by Piazzolla arranged by Hywel Davies.

He has played the natural trumpet with groups such as Florilegium, the Brook Street Band and the 18th Century Concert Orchestra.  He has performed many times at Hampton Court Palace in period costume.  He recently performed with Oltremontano in Venice.

Edward has recently recorded the sound track for two silent films, Strike and Battleship Potemkin with the New Music Players.  Strike was recently premiered at the Barbican, followed by a short tour.  On screen, Edward makes a fleeting appearance as an Elizabethan court musician in the film Elizabeth The Golden Age, starring Cate Blanchett, Clive Owen and Geoffrey Rush.

He is available for weddings and recitals.

Edward also plays the piano and has been the musical director for three amateur pantomimes.
